What we collect
AI-Grader collects only the information required to run an academic essay-grading system. Nothing more.
- Name and institutional ID number
- Email address (if provided by the institution)
- Profile picture (optional, uploaded by the user)
- Essays, quizzes, and submitted academic work
- Class enrollment and grade records
- Writing analytics — keystrokes, time spent, paste events, tab switches
How we use it
Your information is used strictly for educational purposes:
- Grading essays and quizzes
- Detecting plagiarism against the institutional database and public web sources
- Verifying authorship through WriteProof™ analytics
- Tracking student progress across assignments
- Authenticating users and protecting accounts
How we protect it
We use industry-standard security measures to protect student and faculty data:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all traffic
- Hashed passwords using bcrypt — we never store plain passwords
- Role-based access control (Admin, Teacher, Student)
- Session timeouts and single-device enforcement
- Server-level protection of configuration files and API keys
Who sees it
We do not sell, trade, or rent personal information. Data is only accessible to:
- Instructors assigned to the student's classes
- School administrators with role-based access
- Legal authorities, only when required by Philippine law
Note: When you use the internet plagiarism scan or AI quality analysis, essay text is sent to external processing services (SerpAPI, Groq) only for the duration of the request. No persistent copy is stored on those services.
How long we keep it
- Academic records — duration of enrollment plus 5 years
- Writing analytics (WriteProof™) — 1 academic year, then archived
- Session data — cleared automatically on logout or timeout
- Debug logs — rotated and deleted after 30 days
